Women’s Foundation of the South Announces Vice President for Programs
The Female/BIPOC led foundation announces its Vice President of Programs, Christy Wallace Slater from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation
New Orleans, LA — November 19, 2021 — Southern-based non-profit, ‘The Women’s Foundation of the South’ is proud to announce its first Vice President of Programs, Christy Wallace Slater. After nearly a decade with The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, where she served as Program Officer, Christy will work with the WFS executive team to develop leading edge grantmaking and impact investing programming. This executive appointment precedes the launch of the WOC at Rest self-care series and highlights the ascent of WFS in the philanthropic community.
As a Louisiana native, Christy has served as the director of economic opportunity at the Foundation for Louisiana, where she supported the development and growth of the foundation’s program-related investment fund and managed the foundation’s grant portfolios. She also served as Program Officer at ECD/Hope Community Credit Union and as public investment project manager at the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development in New Orleans prior to her role at W.K Kellogg Foundation. Christy’s career has been fueled by her enduring passion for community, justice, and healing. Expressing her adoration for the work of WFS, Christy said, “I am proud to join this fantastic group of dynamic women. The mission behind The Women’s Foundation of the South resonates wholeheartedly with me, and I believe this organization is the change the state of Louisiana and the South needs to see.”
As the organization begins to develop its programmatic work centering the leadership and restoration of women of color leaders, Women’s Foundation of the South Founder and CEO Carmen James Randolph said, “This is an exciting time for WFS, and we’re thrilled to welcome Christy’s brilliance to our team.
